![]() The Tuks Wrestling Club is one the leading wrestling clubs in the country – both in size and in the quality of wrestlers on its roster.
Amateur (or Olympic) wrestling is the oldest sport known to humankind. It is one of the few sporting codes that have been part of both the ancient and modern Olympic Games. It comes with a reputation and traditions stretching back to 3 500 BC.
Wrestling is widely regarded as a basis for skills development among young sportsmen and women. It is the ultimate individual sport where participants compete against each other according to weight and size – without any aid and equipment, but within a strict set of rules and sporting ethos. In many countries it is used as a starting point for development in other sports such as rugby or American football.
TuksWrestling has a stated objective to produce quality wrestlers that can continue to compete successfully on both the local and international scene. In recent years it has achieved these objectives and established itself clearly as one of the most successful programmes in our sporting history.
With 105 registered wrestlers it is one of the largest clubs in the country. TuksWrestlers are participating for 12 months a year in both local and international competitions.
In 2011 TuksWrestling produced 14 South African champions. We are very proud that 3 of the top 5 wrestlers in our country, is members of TuksWrestling. They are Heinrich Barnes, Etienne van Huyssteen and Gerald Meyer.
In 2006 Tuks produced 22 South African champions – the most in the country – in all age and gender categories ranging from Youth, through Cadets and Juniors to Senior and Masters. It has
Tuks has won the title of Club of the Year in Gauteng North, SA's strongest wrestling province since 1999 to 2009.
Tuks' success can be primarily ascribed to a comprehensive coaching and mentoring system starting at pre-school level and continuing at all levels of competitive wrestling. Our coaching staff includes the 2004 Olympic coach, the head coach of the SA Senior team and the coach of the SA Cadet team.

Tuks's kids wrestling programme is known throughout the country for the quality of wrestlers it produces. We can accommodate young wrestlers from the age of 4 in our programme.

TuksWrestling is Bennie Labuschagne - 1992 Olympian, three time African champion, Commonwealth Games medallist and named one of South Africa's six “Wrestler's of the 20th Century.” He is assisted by a group of experienced and highly dedicated coaches.
